Sustainable building practices have made great strides in the construction industry, but there is still much to be done. The EPA reports that “Building-related C&D debris represents nearly 40% of the C&D and municipal solid waste streams.”
Unlike traditional construction methods, temporary fabric structures, due to their modular nature and method of installation, are intrinsically greener than their permanent counterparts. Some green advantages of temporary structures/sales office structures include:
Less Material Waste
Materials are recycled, inventories are controlled, and building materials are protected during fabrication. In addition to optimising materials purchases and usage, prefabrication reduces inventory loss because of theft or environmental conditions on the job site. Moreover, our installation team is highly trained, and there are fewer onsite errors, so there are fewer re-works at the end of the project.
Reduced Site Disturbance
The manufacturing of temporary building components and site office structures reduces disruption to the site and vehicular traffic, as well as improves workers’ safety and security. As a result of simplifying the installation process and making it more efficient, less time is spent on-site and fewer trips are needed to complete the installation.
As a result of faster installation, construction complaints such as water pollution, dust and dirt particles in the air, distraction and displacement of occupants, light pollution, unpleasant smells, noisy equipment, and untidy appearances on site are minimized. In addition, fewer materials are delivered to the site, reducing the environmental impact.
Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Options
A variety of high-efficiency mechanical systems, insulation, windows, doors, and other fixtures are available to meet your efficiency needs and requirements, and any of our temporary structures can be built to meet your sustainability requirements.
Ability to Reuse and Recycle
It is one of the major advantages of temporary buildings that they are designed for on-site assembly, which also means they can be disassembled more easily at the end of their project life. Everything is manufactured for portability, and hand tools, such as wrenches, are used to assemble the structure. Essentially, we can build a building in a few days and then take it down and move it elsewhere as your needs change and/or evolve.
Dismantling the buildings in their original pieces ensures that any lighting, walls, flooring or other add-ons are repurposed along with the frame. As a result, these structures are effectively closed-looped, or at least their lives are extended significantly.
It is almost unheard of in traditional construction to reuse materials in this manner, as it is often uneconomical to deconstruct an on-site building and save the materials for later use.
Here at Woodpeckers Global, we support and believe ‘green’ construction bandwagon right from the inception of our processes. It is undoubtedly more ‘green’ to repurpose an existing building than to build something new from the ground up, and also for sales office interiors.
